Course
Screenwriting Workshop: Story Development
It’s one thing to start a script and another to carry it through with momentum, cohesion, and resolution. In this course, you’ll build on the draft you began in Screenwriting Workshop: Getting Started, learning how to edit and refine story structure, make characters more dynamic, and bring your plot to completion. In a writers’ room-style workshop setting, you’ll give and receive peer feedback that advances your story and trains you to confidently pitch a completed screenplay.
Your takeaways
• Develop your concept into a fleshed-out screenplay by expanding story beats and plot points
• Edit and critique your own work and that of your peers in a writers’ room
• Complete a 30-minute screenplay that meets studio standards
• Create supporting pitch materials such as character breakdowns, treatments and pitch decks
• Apply industry techniques to confidently market your screenplay
Our approach
Learning is built on practice and collaboration. You will write continuously, participate in workshops, and receive feedback from instructors and peers. Active participation is key to completing your script and gaining the confidence to continue writing beyond the program.
Who benefits the most?
