The SCPA Summer Institute in Community Engagement and Social Justice

June 9-13, 2025 – Concordia’s downtown campus

Are you a CEGEP student interested in improving your community and working towards a better world? Are you thinking about how to pursue these interests when you enter university, and how to study these things while remaining rooted in community?

About this course

The SCPA Summer Institute in Community Engagement and Social Justice is a 3-credit course open to CEGEP students who will have completed one year of studies by June. This hands-on course will bring together students interested in the social, political and community dynamics of working towards change. Consisting of one full week of 9am-5pm learning, you will learn from local community organizations across diverse issues, academic experts, as well as from each other through discussions and hands-on projects and assignments.

This summer institute is a great opportunity to get a taste of university life and broaden your perspectives about how change happens. If you complete the course, you will obtain 3 credits that you will be able to put towards your undergraduate degree, should you come to study at Concordia.

Language of instruction

The course will be given primarily in English, but some presentations may be in French. Students at Concordia can always participate and submit work in either English or French.
