Accessing materials
Scan & deliver
Articles and chapters from Concordia's collection can be scanned and emailed as a PDF attachment. This service is available to Concordia students and staff.
Retrieve and request materials
Shelving in the Libraries ranges from the floor to 2.5 metres (8 feet). Step stools are available on each floor. Concordia students, Concordia staff, and Library Privilege Card holders can request materials for pickup at either Library through the Sofia Discovery tool.
Proxy borrowers
Concordia undergraduate students registered with the Access Centre for Students with Disabilities, graduate students, and faculty can appoint an individual to act as a representative and carry out Library loans on their behalf. Representatives can:
- Borrow material
- Check out holds and interlibrary loan requests made by the appointing student or staff member
- With staff assistance, place holds on material from Concordia Library's collections and the Quebec University Library Partnership (PBUQ)
- With staff assistance, find out what they have borrowed and check due dates (the appointing student or staff member will be able to access this information by signing into the Sofia Discovery tool)
Technology
The following software applications are available on all public workstations at Vanier and Webster Libraries (with the exception of the Express Workstations):
- Fusion2022 (includes ZoomText and JAWS for screen magnification and screen reading)
- ClaroRead Plus for text-to-speech and writing help
The following accessibility equipment is available to borrow:
- Noise cancelling headphones
- Light therapy lamps
- Portable standing desks
- Visual aid keyboard (Vanier Library only)
Dual monitors are available in the following locations:
Webster Library: All computers in LB-285
Vanier Library: All computers in VL-101

The Concordia Library’s website and the Sofia Discovery tool were developed in adherence with the Web accessibility standards of the Government of Quebec.
