In a moment when information and misinformation are moving at a break-neck pace and trust in media institutions is dwindling, how can we challenge dominant narratives and confront current power structures? What does it look like to harness journalism and storytelling for effective knowledge mobilization and social change? Join us for interactive skill-share that will center on practical approaches to sharing knowledge and understanding impact in an ever-shifting techno-cultural landscape.

Rachel Gilmore is an award-winning journalist with extensive experience reporting on federal politics, human rights, disinformation and extremism. She recently launched her own media company, Bubble Pop Media, which publishes daily short-form news videos and a weekly podcast. She also shares her independent reporting across social media platforms, where she’s accumulated a collective audience of more than half a million followers.(Bubble Pop Media)
Danièle-Jocelyne Otou-Nguini works to create safe spaces that enable all the voices in the room to feel heard. Her background in social innovation, design thinking, strategy and communications guide how she accompanies leaders and teams to navigate organizational change through her consultancy work as co-founder of the New Room Group, as well as in her role as Board Chair at the Black Healing Centre.
Savannah Stewart has led daily operations at The Rover as Managing Editor since 2023. Previously a reporter for The Eastern Door and Cult MTL, she has since shifted her focus to documentary journalism, co-directing The Rover’s first-ever documentary, Palestine on Campus, alongside videojournalist Justin Khan.
SHIFT Pathways Series: As part of our mandate to facilitate collaboration across difference and host a welcoming space for difficult conversations, SHIFT hosts the Pathways Skill Share series to bring together speakers from across Montreal to exchange about the concrete challenges of turning principles of social transformation into practice.
