Living History: 100 Years of Black History, Culture and Heritage

Concordia Library is proud to present Living History: 100 Years of Black History, Culture and Heritage, an exhibition curated by the Black Community Resource Centre (BCRC).

Black immigrants have made significant cultural, artistic and social contributions to present-day Montreal. However, this history is often overlooked and rarely told. With the support of Canadian Heritage, the BCRC’s Living History: 100 Years of Black History, Culture and Heritage highlights some of the many contributions of Montreal's English-speaking Black community through the creation of 15 memoryscapes of locations, events, organizations and people of significance to the Anglo-Black population.

These oral histories not only provide access to collective memories of the past, but also preserve these stories for generations to come.

This exhibition will be on display in the second-floor vitrines of the Webster Library, along with sound clips in the audio stairwell. Living History: 100 Years of Black History, Culture and Heritage runs until the end of February, in recognition of Black History Month.
