Sexuality studies encyclopedias, dictionaries

This guide lists a selection of the more important sources of information on Sexuality available at Concordia Library. It includes material held in the Webster Library (WEB) on the Sir George Williams Downtown Campus, the Vanier Library (VAN) on the Loyola Campus and/or available online. Most materials are located in the Reference area (REF).

Databases are used to identify articles published in journals and to other types of documents (book chapters, conference papers, theses, etc.) 

  • LGBTQ+ Source: Broad coverage of the world's LGBTQ literature, for both academic & lifestyle publications. Covers the full run of 190 of the most important & historically significant journals, magazines, and regional newspapers, both mainstream and grey, and more than 330 books & reference works. Includes the full text of Xtra and Body Politic

  • Gender Studies Database: Combines Women's Studies International and Men's Studies databases with coverage of sexual diversity issues

  • Academic Search Complete: A multidisciplinary full-text database, with more than 6,100 full-text periodicals, including more than 5,100 peer-reviewed journals
  • SocINDEX: As opposed to Academic Search Complete, focusses on sociological and social science material

  • APA PsycINFO: Published by the American Psychological Association (APA), it contains more than 2 million citations and summaries of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, technical reports and dissertations, all in psychology and related disciplines

  • ERIC: Indexes journal articles and documents in education and related disciplines

  • ARTbibliographies Modern: Citations and abstracts covering Impressionism in the late 19th century, with coverage of all aspects of modern and contemporary art

  • PubMed: Citations and Abstracts covering LGBTQ health issues
