Join us at Concordia University's 4TH SPACE for Talking Shop, a live podcast recording from the Department of Marketing at the John Molson School of Business. This edition will explore the shifts reshaping retail in two sessions with invited guests from industry and academia.
Session 1: Exploring the Shifts Reshaping Retail (3 - 4 p.m.)
Richard Sejean, lecturer in the Department of Marketing, leads a candid discussion with retail leaders on the biggest trends shaping retail today; how customer expectations are evolving across channels and experiences; the role of technology, data and human judgment in modern retail; and career paths in the retail industry.

Michèle Paulin, professor in the Department of Marketing, hosts a conversation with Concordia alumna Solène Thubert and Jules Trolet, co-founders of the shoe refurbishing company TROLET. The two will reflect on their entrepreneurial journey, which began while they were still university students. They recount the origins of their shoe repair company, the pivots that shaped their evolution, and the challenges they faced within the second hand ecosystem.

Paula Macaggi is a recognized thought leader in the retail industry. She has been named a RETHINK Retail Top Retail Expert, received the NRF “The Retail Voice” Award, was recognized as one of Retail Voices 2026, and was included in the RTIH Top 100 Retail Tech Influencers.
Paula is also the creator and host of OFFBounds, a weekly video podcast featuring executives behind some of the world’s most recognized retail and consumer brands. Across 100+ episodes, Paula has had candid conversations with CIOs, CMOs, and CEOs about what’s actually working—and what isn’t—across commerce, technology, and customer experience.
Mirna Saffouri is a PMP-certified marketing executive with over 20 years of experience in retail, specializing in digital growth, ecommerce, branding, and content strategy. As Vice President at La Vie en Rose, she plays a key role in advancing the company’s digital capabilities, contributing to major platform implementations and helping drive the integration of systems supporting the brand’s evolving omnichannel retail strategy.
Known for her collaborative leadership style, Mirna is passionate about building strong teams and enabling them to achieve meaningful results.
Richard Sejean is a digital marketing and e-commerce expert with nearly 20 years of experience. He combines behavioral insights with marketing technology to design strategies that enhance the customer experience and drive measurable business results.
Richard has led successful e-commerce website launches, managed multimillion-dollar media budgets, and built high-performing digital teams across multiple industries. He is also a lecturer at John Molson School of Business, sharing his knowledge and real-world experience with the next generation of marketing professionals.
Jules Trolet, CEO and cobbler at TROLET, holds a degree in Business Intelligence from HEC Montréal. Solène Thubert, Marketing Director at TROLET, graduated from Concordia University in Communications and Marketing. Together with their third partner, Nathanaël Maillot, Director of Technology who graduated from Polytechnique, they founded TROLET, a Quebec-based company pioneering the refurbishment of footwear. By combining traditional craftsmanship with technological development, TROLET offers a sustainable alternative to buying new by giving high-quality shoes a second life.
Michèle Paulin is a professor in the Department of Marketing at the John Molson School of Business. Her projects involve immersive experiential learning, humanistic and sustainable management practices, service design and service management, as well as self-determination motivation practices. She is the author of Creating Your Future Through Powerful Conversation (2022).
She has more than 120 publications and scientific presentations in high impact journals and holds a law degree L.L.B. (Université de Sherbrooke), an MBA (Executive MBA, John Molson School of Business), and a PhD. (UQÀM).
