• The Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Col. Tukur Gusau, stated: “A large number of cattle died after drinking water from the ponds”, stressing that as a result of the development “citizens are called upon to avoid as much as possible drinking water from unverified sources especially in locations that troops routed out Boko Haram terrorists”
• Boko Haram terrorists have now resorted to poisoning water sources like wells and streams in areas they were dislodged by gallant troops or areas threatened by offensive operations

• According to a report by Leadership, Some of the women who were rescued from Bama axis of Borno State were prevented from joining their fleeing neighbors by the attacking Boko Haram terrorists because they also used them as troopers in times of attack

“Independence Day Bombing: Scores Feared Killed, Injured as Female Bombers Hit Borno” Vanguard, Lagos-based Daily, 01 October 2015

• Several female suicide bombers on Thursday evening, sneaked into Sageri, Ajilari and other outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, carrying out multiple blasts, which sources said, scores of innocent civilians were feared dead and injured.
• The multiple explosions in Sageri and Ajilari occurred simultaneously at about 7:30pm after which men of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army responded with their artillery fire power towards that affected area, a situation that left many residents fleeing into the main city for safety

• The Borno Police Command on Sunday confirmed the killing of nine persons after a suspected Boko Haram insurgents’ attack in Mailari village
• Nine were killed and 10 injured in the blast

• Defense Headquarters (DHQ) has inaugurated a national committee to oversee the re-integration of repentant terrorists into society
• “Boko Haram members penciled for reintegration are those forcefully conscripted into the group and those who have already surrendered and given up their membership of the sect and those willing to renounce their membership,” the DHQ said

“Soldiers Kill Boko Haram Kingpin in Borno” Punch, Privately-owned Daily, 29 September 2015

• The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Tuesday that the terror kingpin said to be wreaking havoc in the area was gunned down during a shootout with soldiers on Monday afternoon
• Four other suspected terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds during the encounter
• In a related development, troops of 3 Division have arrested a suspected Boko Haram kingpin, Alhaji Tijjani Usman Damagum. He was tracked down and arrested at Damagum town, Yobe State yesterday

• The Defense Headquarters said in a statement that the coordinated operation of the security forces in the ‘contested area’ designed to dismantle the technical capabilities of the terrorist group to launch attacks would intensify in order not to give the terrorists the space to regroup and re-strategize their campaign of violence
• The DHQ said, “for optimum success in the counteroffensives, the recent deployment of the 7th Brigade of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in the Lake Chad Basin would ensure a total blockade of possible escape

• Some of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, from Borno State have pleaded with the Federal Government to recruit them into the military to help fight the Boko Haram terrorists as well as help in the protection of the country
• 12-year-old Matthew Ayuba, who was passionate on joining the military, said he and his fellow inmates in the camps would make the difference if they were given the opportunity to join the military
