PERFORM Colloquium: Assessing Sleep Health is Time Well Spent

Introduction:

Sleep is essential for physical and mental health. However, sleep deprivation is common among Canadians. In this presentation, I will discuss the importance of having a good night's sleep for overall health and present the recommendations for healthy sleep. I will also talk about the connection between sleep and obesity. The concept of "sleep health" will be introduced and I will highlight recent findings from a sleep manipulation study we are conducting in Ottawa.

Speaker: Jean-Philippe Chaput, PhD

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Chaput is a Senior Research Scientist with the Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group at the CHEO Research Institute and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa. His research focuses on health promotion and the prevention of chronic diseases. Dr. Chaput published more than 350 peer-reviewed scientific articles and received several awards for his research.
