Presenter: Glenn Patterson, Ph.D. Candidate
Language of event: English presentation and Q+A session
When: April 30, noon to 1pm

The Quebec English-Speaking Communities Research Network (QUESCREN) and the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN) collaborated for this instalment of QUESCREN's Lunch n' Learn series. Glenn Patterson is a PhD candidate in ethnomusicology who is leading "A Different Tune: Musical Heritage in English-Speaking Quebec" for QAHN.

This presentation and Q&A considers the role musical culture past and present plays in the vitality of Quebec's English-speaking communities. It includes musical excerpts from singer-songwriter-playwright Ian Tamblyn (Chelsea, QC) and hip-hop youth mentor Todd Smith (Lasalle, QC). It also features Glenn performing short excerpts of traditional music from the English-speaking communities of Valcartier and Gaspé respectively.

This Lunch & Learn was made possible through the financial support of the Secretariat aux relations avec les Québécois d'expression anglaise and the Department of Canadian Heritage.
