Athletic therapy internships
Athletic therapy interns follow their client's entire course of treatment, from assessment to treatment to discharge.
Student interns are charged with gathering information on their client's medical history and performing a physical assessment in order to determine a treatment plan. Interns then present the plan to their supervisor, a certified athletic therapist, who ensures that all appropriate tests and inquiries have been made before adopting a proper treatment plan. Treatments may include ultrasound, heat, manual therapy, aquatherapy, exercise or whichever methods have been decided upon.
Internships are accessed through the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Applied Physiology. Contact the academic advisor there for more information.
Clinical exercise physiology internships
Clinical exercise physiology interns follow participants through a series of assessments meant to establish baseline measurements to help determine how to improve the body's overall functioning over a particular period of time and/or under specific conditions.
During assessments, students build on their knowledge, skills and abilities as well as design and deliver safe and effective exercise routines to participants enrolled in the School of Health's community health programs.
