Contribute to our research by taking part in a research study. The following research studies are looking for people. To participate, please contact the research team directly at the provided email address or phone number.

The following projects would not be possible without the people who volunteer to take part in the research. Participants gain a useful understanding of how research takes place, and learn something interesting about the field, or themselves. Participation is open to the public.

Are you interested in learning more about your sleep?

To participate:

  • Being 60 years of age or older
  • Living in Montreal to be able to do an MRI exam
  • Having internet access at home
  • No sleep complaints
  • No difficulties with your memory, or attention, or language

Graduating this semester?

You may be eligible to participate in a longitudinal survey and interview study

The Young Adult and Alcohol Research (YAAR) Lab at Concordia University is seeking final-year undergraduate students for a study examining psychological and social factors associated with alcohol use. Those eligible will be invited to complete in person interviews (2 total), online (6 total), and smartphone (8 total) assessments for up to 6 years.

Participants will earn $75 for completing the initial/final assessments, $21 for each 14-day smartphone assessment period completed, $25 for each completed online assessment. There is a total potential earning of $583 for participating in the entire 6-year study.

Eligible participants meet the following criteria:

  • 18 - 29 years old
  • Final year undergraduate student at Concordia or York University (graduating Spring 2026)
  • Had at least 1 drink in the past month
  • Fluent in English

We are looking for parents of youths aged 3 - 25 who show:

  • Aggressive or defiant behaviours
  • Lack of care about others
  • Low empathy or remorse
  • Very little emotions

 

What will you be asked to do in this study?

  • 1-hour online interview (English)

Summary

We are looking for COUPLES in which at least one partner is trying to change their diet and/or physical activity habits.

The main goal of this study is to investigate the associations among different types of couples’ behaviours, eating, resting, and physical activity behaviours, and risk for chronic diseases.

What's involved?

  • You and your partner will be asked to complete:
  • Online questionnaires.
  • An in-person visit during which you will do different physical tests
  • An online discussion task with your partner
  • Wear two portable devices for 7 days

Both partners have to participate and complete 3 assessments over 2 years.

  • Earn up to $250 as a couple for participating in this study and receive a lifestyle assessment and help advance our understanding of the impact of lifestyle habits on health among couples!

Inclusion criteria

You can participate if either you or your partner are

  • Overweight and trying to improve your diet and/or physical activity

AND you both are:

  • Aged 50 years or older
  • Have been living together for at least two years
  • Are currently living in the Greater Montreal area
  • Speak English and/or French
  • Have access to an electronic device allowing videoconferencing

Exclusion criteria

Individuals who meet any of the following criteria cannot participate in the study:

  • Mobility issues or medical treatment limiting participation in physical activity

Do you have low back pain?

Concordia University is offering 48 sessions of exercise therapy as part of a study on exercise interventions for persons with chronic low back pain.

Who can participate

  • Adults 18-60 years of age
  • Low back pain for more than 3 months
  • Speak fluent English or French
  • No previous spinal surgery, vertebral fracture, scoliosis or other lumbar spine condition

Participation in this study includes

  • 4 months of exercise therapy
  • Completing questionnaires on a mobile app
  • 2 MRI scans of the lower back
  • Wearing an activity tracker wristband for 1 week
  • Opportunity to share thoughts about your experience in a 1-on-1 private interview

Seeking women aged 60 years and older interested in participating in a 10-week long line dancing course to examine the effects of dance on postural stability, dynamic balance, gait, strength & aerobic capacity.

Dance classes will take place on Thursdays from 11:00 - 12:30pm on the Zoom platform. Classes run from January 29 to April 2, 2026.

You will need a tablet, smartphone, or computer with internet connection and a webcam to participate in this study.

You must be able to attend in-person assessments at Concordia's Loyola Campus the weeks of January 18th, March 1st & April 6th.

Dance participation is voluntary and supervised.

Participate in Montreal-Paris Neurobank:A Healthy-Controls Component of C-BIG

Researchers in the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital (Neuro) are inviting volunteers to participate in an open-science brain imaging biobank. The Neuro has a legacy of advancing neuroscience through innovative brain imaging and neuroinformatic research led by scientists of the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre.

The Darlington laboratory in the Department of Health, Kinesiology & Applied Physiology at Concordia University is seeking participants for the study entitled: “Hormonal Regulation of T Cell Genomics”.

The goal of the study is to understand how hormones influence the immune cells which play an important role in health. The study consists of one visit of approximately 30 minutes.

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be comfortable with blood draws and needles

We are currently looking for male and female regular computer users with neck or shoulder pain (age: 25-50 years old) to participate in one or both of our studies:

Study #1:

Goal of the research: To determine which type of short pause (active or passive) is more efficient in changing muscle activity during a computer task.

Participation in this study involves:

  • Duration: One recording session for a period of 3 hours.
  • A monetary compensation will be given to participate in this study.
  • Location: PERFORM Centre, 7200 Sherbrooke St. West, Montréal.

Study #2:

Goal of the research: To investigate the effects of a 6-week exercise protocol on muscle activation during a computer task.

Participation in this study involves:

  • Intervention: Participants will be randomized to either intervention or control group. The intervention will consist of home-based online exercises targeting neck/shoulder muscles for 3 times/week, for a period of 6 weeks. Participants assigned to the control group will be offered to take part in the intervention after participating in the second testing session.
  • Duration: Two testing sessions, separated by 6 weeks for a period of up to 2 hours for each session
  • A monetary compensation of $40 will be given to participate in each testing session of this study
  • Location: PERFORM Centre, 7200 Sherbrooke St. West, Montréal.

If you are 30–75 years of age and not on hormone replacement therapy, participate in a research study about nutrition-related health issues.

$200 Compensation

Volunteers are needed to participate in a study involving imaging brain activity using brain imaging techniques such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Electroencephalography and functional Near-InfraRed Spectroscopy.

Healthy volunteers must be between 18 to 45 years old and have no medical, traumatic or psychiatric conditions, and no metal in the body.
