Introduction to Ethics in Research Involving Human Participants

2025-04-28

Introduction:

Obtaining research ethics approval is both an imperative and important process for all researchers working with human-derived data. We also understand that many researchers have questions around research ethics and how to ensure they are following the necessary guidelines set out by both the TCPS and Concordia’s Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC). It is our hope that we may be able to provide more clarity to researchers across the university to foster a better understanding and relationship with research ethics.

Together with Concordia's Office of Research, we hosted this Zoom presentation for both faculty and student researchers who may benefit from a greater understanding of the research ethics process. The presentation covers the background of research ethics and why it is has become a necessary procedure in universities, followed by how the process works here at Concordia. The presentation is followed by a Q&A session.
