CREW Programmer for Computational Genomics

Salary: CREW salary grids for undergraduate researchers, $19.45 per hour

Position title:  Research Assistant

P. I or immediate supervisor: Dr. Marie-Julie Favé

 

Job descriptionReporting to Dr. Marie-Julie Favé, the candidate will be responsible for carrying out research tasks in the computational genomics as proposed by the supervisor.

 

Responsibilities will include:

•      Develop and maintain a GitHub repository for the group

•     Support team members in using the GitHub, elaborate short trainings and documentation in using it appropriately

•      Develop and apply bioinformatics, biostatistics and machine learning analytic strategies for large scale genomics data analysis (transcriptomics and metabolomic data).

•      Interact with all members of the team and support new members.

 

Qualifications/skills required:

•      Experience with GitHub.

•      Experience with coding in R, Python, Bash and interacting with high-performance computing servers (e.g. Compute Canada)

•      Experience and interest in health-related biostatistics and machine learning

•      Good spoken and written English.

•      Ability to support students with diverse backgrounds in their learning process of computational genomics.

•      Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

•      Interact with all members of the team to elaborate analytic strategies and support students in learning process of computational genomics.
