The Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery is participating in the 2014 Encuentro by presenting three installations and performative projects.

Encuentro is a conference, workshop and performance festival dedicated to connecting performance with visual arts, activists and scholars throughout the Americas. Organized by the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics, New York University and Concordia University, it is being held for the first time in Canada. 

Activities and performances accompany each project.

THE LIBRARY OF PERFORMING RIGHTS created by Lois Weaver in collaboration with the Live Art Development Agency and presented in Montreal with the collaboration of Jo Palmer, designer and Joanna Donehower, dramaturg

ZAPANTERA NEGRA with Emory Douglas, once Minister of Culture for the Black Panther Party, Caleb Duarte, Eva Mia Rollow, Saul Kak and EDELO (Where the United Nations Used to Be)
