Research Assistant as Mentor in Applied AI Solutions with Concordia’s Applied AI Institute

This position is subject to the conditions of the CREW collective agreement and is only available to current Concordia students.

The Concordia Applied AI Institute (AI2) is a multidisciplinary applied research unit representing more than 120 faculty members and their graduate students from Concordia’s four faculties. AI2 is a values-driven institute, committed to engaged leadership, consideration of AI’s societal consequences, and support for public interest. We promote AI that challenges the status quo and fosters positive change across sectors. 

Job Description: 

TAs part of the Institute’s AI Adoption and Strategic Outreach team, you will support ongoing industry engagement efforts, starting with outreach and lead generation for the AI for Decision-Makers in Advanced Manufacturing training program, delivered in partnership with Bold New Edge. 
You will assist with outreach strategy, manage CRM records (HubSpot), and help convert potential leads into active participants. In addition to this project, you will contribute to future outreach initiatives across the Institute as new projects and industry partnerships arise. 
You will work closely with the Business Development Specialist and be instrumental in shaping how the Institute communicates its value to external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

As part of the AI Educational programs team, you will work as a mentor for program participants in a Training program supported by DIGITAL. This program aims to equip decision-makers in the manufacturing industry with hands-on skills to implement AI within their organization.

Your responsibilities will include working collaboratively with other research assistants to guide decision makers in building a custom business AI roadmap and designing an AI solution.

Work Environment

The Applied AI Institute is an interdisciplinary team composed of engineers and social scientists, both full-time professionals and research assistants from the Concordia community. We collaborate with faculty members from Concordia University that provide guidance and expertise for our projects. We believe in collaborative approaches to shared work and engage with a range of community partners, locally, across Canada and internationally who are similarly invested in considering AI critically and proactively from the perspective of community agency, autonomy and in consideration of social movement demands.Your work will be reviewed by your manager as well as fellow team members. We enjoy working with diverse teams. Profile description

  • You are enrolled in a graduate program in Business Administration, Management or a related field at Concordia University.
  • You have experience in AI applications, including Edge AI and generative AI, along with a solid understanding of responsible AI practices.
  • You have a strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) strategies.
  • You have experience in business strategy, including, ROI analysis, change management and total cost of ownership.
  • You have experience working in interdisciplinary environment.
  • You have experience mentoring others or facilitating courses/workshops.
  • You have a good level of spoken and written English; proficiency in spoken and written French is a strong asset.
  • You have demonstrated strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • You have good communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

You are: 

  • A current undergraduate or graduate student in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field at Concordia University

  • Skilled in professional communication (email, phone, Zoom)

  • Comfortable working in CRM tools such as HubSpot (or willing to learn)

  • Able to organize and manage pipelines, contacts, and outreach schedules 

  • Interested in sales, client relationship building, and/or business development

  • Proficient in English; French proficiency is an asset

  • Able to work independently and report progress clearly
