André Gagné is Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Theological Studies. He has a conjoint PhD from l'Université catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) and l'Université de Montréal, a M.A. and B.Th. from l'Université de Montréal.
His teaching and scholarship focus on Christian Political Thought, Global Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, and the Reception of the Bible. Dr. Gagné is a member of the Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (Concordia), a research associate with the Centre de recherche Société, Droit et Religions (Université de Sherbrooke), and a member of the Political Theology Research Group (McGill, Concordia, Université de Montréal, and Université Laval). From 2023 to 2025, he was part of the National Expert Committee on Countering Radicalization to Violence with Public Safety Canada.

In recognition for his efforts to impact public discourse, he was also the recipient of the President’s “Opinion Leader of the Year” award in 2016, and the "Expert Communicator of the Year" award in 2024.
