Government plans

Life Insurance benefits are also provided under certain government plans, subject to eligibility requirements.

Under the Canada or Quebec Pension Plans (C/QPP), a lump-sum death benefit may be payable to your surviving spouse or estate. In addition, your surviving spouse and dependent children may be entitled to a monthly pension for survivors.

If your death is due to an automobile accident, the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec may pay a lump-sum benefit, and your surviving spouse and dependent children may receive a pension based on your earnings at the time of the accident and the number of your dependents.
