Pramila Choudhary, a designer and researcher, specializes in sustainability, material culture, and circularity. She holds a degree in textile design from NID (National Institute of Design) in Ahmedabad, India. Prior to embarking on her PhD journey, Pramila gained experience in the textiles, clothing, and home categories, working with international markets and community-based nonprofit organizations. Her work involved implementing system designs that incorporated craft-based knowledge systems to create livelihood opportunities through collaborative product
design using natural materials and circularity principles. Additionally, she taught at various design schools in India.
For her PhD research, Pramila focuses on exploring the use of sheep wool in arid and semi-arid regions of India, specifically the Western, Deccan, and Himalayan areas. Her investigation encompasses crafts, community, culture, and commerce, while also establishing links and sustainable practices between India and Canada, utilizing sheep wool as a primary material.

Pramila is studying in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment at Concordia University under the supervision of Dr. Nalini Mohabir.

The working title of Pramila's thesis project is The impact of shifting from Desi OON (Indigneous wool) on everyday clothing.
