Stingers take down Sherbrooke, put playoff hopes in their own hands

The Concordia Stingers are one win away from securing a spot in the RSEQ playoffs after defeating the Sherbrooke Vert et Or 34-13 on Saturday, October 24, in Sherbrooke.

The Stingers delivered a strong all-around performance, led by an outstanding effort from cornerback Coslens Clairveaux, who was named the RSEQ Defensive Player of the Week.

Clairveaux made his presence felt throughout the game, recording two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. He also added four tackles and a pass breakup to help anchor the Stingers' defensive effort.

On the offensive side, quarterback Glenn Valentine turned in his best performance as a Stinger. He completed 12 of 13 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown without throwing an interception. Valentine also found the end zone on the ground, adding a rushing touchdown to cap off an impressive outing.

The victory puts Concordia's playoff destiny firmly in its own hands. With one regular-season game remaining, the Stingers can clinch the fourth and final playoff spot with a win over Bishop's.

The Stingers host the Gaiters on Saturday, October 31, at 1 p.m. A victory would send Concordia into the RSEQ playoffs as the fourth seed.
