Sustainability at Concordia

October 2026

Colourful banner with 7 students gathered outside smiling.

October is here, and it’s Campus Sustainability Month! From volunteering and events to hands-on workshops and Halloween-themed activities, there are plenty of ways to connect with the sustainability community and discover what’s happening across campus.

See what’s happening: Check out the Sustainability Fair, explore FungiFest Concordia and get into the Halloween spirit with sustainable pumpkin carving and costume mending and upcycling.

Get involved: Volunteer with Right to Move, mind.heart.mouth, vermicomposting or the City Herbal Apprenticeship Program.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Concordia launches its Sustainability Action Plan 2026–30

Concordia has launched its Sustainability Action Plan 2026–30, a university-wide framework for advancing sustainability across campus operations, teaching and learning, research and community engagement. The new plan builds on the 2020–25 action plan and introduces two new stream topics, procurement and biodiversity, alongside continued work on food, waste, climate, research and curriculum.

The plan also includes new opportunities for students to engage with sustainability, including interdisciplinary courses and a Campus Lab initiative connecting students with hands-on sustainability projects.
