Looking to enhance your coaching skills, start your own business, experiment with machine learning or discover more about aviation management? Then register for any of the Concordia online professional development offerings.

Concordia’s new hub connects you with industry experts to help fulfill your professional skill-advancement goals through a variety of online continuing and executive education offerings.

Bringing content online was in the works for a while, but the initiative was accelerated when the university was forced to close due to the COVID-19 crisis, says Isabel Dunnigan, associate vice-president of lifelong learning and executive director of Concordia Continuing Education.

The new lineup is a combination of classes that have previously been offered in person and those that were designed first for online delivery.

“We decided to develop those learning opportunities faster and to put them online right away,” Dunnigan explains. “Although very uncertain, we are in an interesting time right now, shaping a future that will become our new normal. Some of the changes we are currently experiencing will remain relevant because they respond to a larger diversity of professional needs.”

Concordia is able to help companies take advantage of the Government of Quebec’s new Programme actions concertées pour le maintien en emploi (PACME). This program provides direct financial support to businesses to help them train and upgrade the skill of their workforce.

Working with a network of experienced professionals, Concordia arranges training adapted for remote learning according to clients’ specific needs, business reality and availability.

Build skills in social media, leadership and more

The online offerings cover a wide array of professional development opportunities, from conflict management and handling difficult situations in the workplace, to social media and digital marketing, to understanding artificial intelligence, machine learning and blockchain technology.

They also touch on topics particularly relevant to this new reality, such as project management and creativity for remote teams, creating human connections while working from home and building resilience.

Eventually, professionals, mature students and lifelong learners will be able to complete entire programs online.
