‘Spirituality means different things to different people — that’s the beauty of it’
Concordia is rich with diversity — and the spiritual and religious backgrounds of the community are no exception.
The Discover Multi-faith Concordia Fair takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, in the atrium of the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (EV).
It’s an opportunity to learn more about faith and spirituality on campus and to meet people from a variety of different religions.
“Faith and religion are part of society and we shouldn’t be shy about this. If you’re curious about religion, this is the perfect place to learn more, have fun and meet new people.”
The fair will feature interactive games, a video booth, free food and more.
For Jeremiah Ho, a third-year communications student, events like Discover Multi-Faith are important when it comes to understanding his peers. “Religion is a big part of my life. I want to be respected for that, and also respect others and celebrate their beliefs.”
Hummel underlines that you don’t have to belong to a certain religion to participate. The key is expanding your mind and mixing things up. “Spirituality means different things to different people — that’s the beauty of it.”
Want to learn more? The Multi-Faith and Spirituality Centre provides students with spiritual guidance, resources for faith practice as well as spaces to study or relax. It also offers meditation space where students can take a breather from the hectic pace of school life.
