French-language bursary deadline approaching

Out-of-province and international students may be eligible for a $500 bursary for taking a French course

The deadline to apply for one of the $500 French-language bursaries is January 31.

International and out-of-province students, currently enrolled in FRAN 211, 212 or 213 for the winter 2012 term can apply for the bursary through the Oui Can Help! program.

Students who were enrolled in these courses in the fall 2011 term are also eligible for a bursary.

Launched last fall, Oui Can Help! is a collaborative effort with the Quebec government’s Secrétariat à la politique linguistique, which is providing funds for 50 bursaries for international students, and Quebec’s Ministry of Education.

The ministry is financing 50 bursaries for out-of-province students through contributions from the Canada-Quebec Agreement for Minority-Language Education and Second-Language Instruction.

Additional opportunities to improve French-language skills are listed on the Oui Can Help! website.
