Oui Can Help!
Concordia supports its students in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to enter the Quebec workforce. Mastering French is one of these skills — that is why the university has launched Oui Can Help! This initiative connects students with French-language resources on campus and throughout the city.
French Language Bursary Program
Concordia University and the Provincial Government has awarded 152 bursaries to international and out-of-province students. More bursaries will be offered in 2014 (an announcement will be made shortly).
Graduate students who wish to take a French course can now register as an Independent and will be charged the QUEBEC RATE! Find out how you can register in the Learn section.
International students must be:
• Registered in undergraduate or graduate program (or qualifying program);
• Interested in the opportunity of improving their French-language skills;
• Full-time;
• First year or second year;
• Good academic standing;
• Enrolled in FRAN 211 (6cr.) and / or FRAN 212 (6cr.) and / or 213 (6cr.) / or 214 (3cr.) / or 215 (3cr.) / or 218 (3cr.) / or 221 (3cr.) this past summer 2012 and / or fall 2012 or winter 2013 in the Département d'études françaises.
Note for Graduate students: Taking any FRAN courses will NOT be credited towards your degree or qualifying program but will NOT affect your GPA.
Note for exchange and visiting students: You will not be exempt from the international tuition fee and are not eligible for the bursary. Please visit the Learn section and Practice sections to look at different options to learn French.
Free French Courses for Eligible Staff and Faculty Members!
Oui Can Help!, in collaboration with the Ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC), will be offering a new series of French conversation courses to faculty and staff, free of charge, starting in January 2013.
