Concordia's holiday schedule

Annual holiday closure affects services

The holiday season and the end of 2011 are fast approaching. Unless specified below, departments and services will close at the end of the day on Friday, December 23, and reopen the morning of Tuesday, January 3.

Libraries

Here is the holiday schedule for the Webster Library (in the J.W. McConnell Library Building, 1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.) and the Vanier Library (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.):

  • Saturday, December 24 to Monday, December 26 - closed
  • Tuesday, December 27* to Thursday, December 29 - Open for study only: Webster and Vanier, 24 hours
  • Friday, December 30 to Monday, January 2 - closed
  • Tuesday, January 3*, 2012 - regular hours and services resume

*Please Note: The Libraries will open at 8:30 a.m. on both December 27 and January 3.

Shuttle bus service

The Shuttle bus service will run according to the exam schedule from December 7 until December 23. The last shuttle buses will leave both campuses at 7:45 p.m. on December 23 and regular service will resume January 3.

IITS Helpline
The Helpline run by Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS) will be responding to emails sent to help@concordia.ca on the mornings of December 28, 29 and 30 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Telephone service (ext. 7613) will not be available during the holiday period.

Facilities
In an effort to reduce unnecessary expenses, energy conservation measures will take effect from Saturday, December 24, 2011, until Monday, January 2, 2012 inclusively. See the full notice (linked to below).

Le Gym (Sir George Williams Campus) and Le Centre (Loyola Campus)
Members have until Friday, December 23 at 7 p.m. to squeeze in one last workout before the holidays. The facilities will reopen Tuesday, January 3 at 7 a.m.

Employee Assistance Program

Despite the closure of the university, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will remain available to employees around the clock, seven days a week. For support and service, contact Concordia’s external provider, Shepell-fgi, at the following numbers:

French services: 1-800-361-5676

Multifaith Chaplaincy will be open to the public for a réveillon Christmas Mass on Saturday, December 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Dean of Students Office and the Concordia University Parents Centre
Both will be closed during the holiday period – from Friday, December 23 at 5 p.m. until January 3 at 9 a.m.

The Birks Student Service Centre
On Friday, December 23, the Birks Student Service Centre will close exceptionally at 5 p.m. instead of 6.

Office/laboratory access
Staff, faculty and graduate students may access offices/laboratories during the holiday period by presenting their Concordia identification to the security desk in their building. Authorized undergraduates students will have the same access privileges.

Independently owned stores/restaurants on campus
Concordians who are planning to grab a bite to eat or do some holiday shopping at one of the independently owned restaurants or shops on campus are encouraged to verify hours of operation beforehand as they vary during the holiday period.
