Dr. Mohammad Mannan: Professor Develops Prototype to Thwart Data Theft

Dr. Mohammad Mannan, a researcher in the area of trusted computing and authentication and systems security, is featured in a Montreal Gazette article about hackers who steal or block access to data from computer hard drives and only give it back once a ransom has been paid.

In light of the recent data breach affecting millions of Desjardins customers, this is a timely subject.

Dr. Mannan and his PhD student, Lianying Zhao, have created a type of data wall that doesn't prevent hackers from seeing the data, but prevents them from manipulating it.
