The Department of Philosophy is pleased to announce that Gwynne Fulton, a PhD in Humanities fall 2019 graduate, is the 2019-20 recipient of the Concordia University Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Prize in Fine Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences for her dissertation "Taking Life: Sovereignty, Spectrality, and Images of Death."

This also means Dr. Fulton's doctoral thesis has been selected as Concordia University's nomination for the ADESAQ (l’Association des écoles supérieures d’art du Québec) and CAGS/UMI (Canadian Association of Graduate Studies) Distinguished Dissertation Awards.

The dissertation was supervised by Dr. Matthias Fritsch, who writes: "This is a wonderful success for Gwynne, but also for philosophy, as this was Gwynne's major field in the PhD in Humanities. Her major field advisor is from our department, and Gwynne took many courses in our department and indeed taught Aesthetics for us (in 2013)."

Congratulations on this great accomplishment.
