Kathryn Armstrong, ABD PhD Communication Studies student supervised by Professor Charles Acland, has won the prestigious Gerald Pratley Award for 2024 for her research, “Co-Produced Canada: Media Partnerships in Cultural Policy.” The Film and Media Studies Association of Canada (FMSAC) bestows the Gerald Pratley Award annually to the most innovative and important student research on Canadian/Québec media topics. The Department of Communication Studies is particularly excited about Kathryn’s research, which promises to be a massive contribution to how we understand Canadian film and television co-production in the streaming era. As part of this award, Kathryn will be delivering a keynote address to the FMSAC conference at McGill University in June.
