This workshop will cover:

  • What is anxiety and how does it differ from stress
  • What changes can we make to reduce anxiety/stress
  • Discussion of the hierarchy of needs including sleep, nutrition, drugs/alcohol, and exercise
  • What is a panic attack
  • Psychoeducation on how to reduce the negative effects of a panic attack
  • Practice tools to aid panic symptoms, including progressive muscle relaxation as well as various grounding strategies

This workshop is part of a group activities that will be run from the newly created Zen Den. The Zen Den is housed in Counselling and Psychological Services and offers students access to a calm space on campus when they feel anxious, overwhelmed or simply in the need of emotional containment.
