September 2014

Adam Beach (Titorenko lab) presented a paper as an invited talk at the 12th Euro Fed Lipid Congress in Montpellier (France). The title of Adam’s talk was "Mechanism of ʺliponecrosisʺ, a novel form of programmed cell death".

Chris Plenzich (Despland lab) and Alison Reiko Loader (Communications studies) produced a film called Mass Transit that features the time-lapse and live action video of forest tent caterpillars shot in May 2014. The film features insects following pheromone trails painted on paper by the filmmakers. Though driven by instinct, the caterpillars nevertheless express individual behaviours, speeds and directions. Busily following trails that ultimately circle back on themselves, their movements remind us of the commutes taken daily by millions through the city. Watch the film here.
