Community Cravings Pantry

Our goal

To alleviate food insecurity among Concordia students through the university's first free food pantry.

The pantry

With rising costs of food and housing, more and more Concordia students are struggling to keep food on the shelves and in fridges. When added to the stresses of their busy lives, managing academic and employment responsibilities, and sometimes even the care of dependents, some students need a little extra help. The Community Cravings Pantry is here to help relieve some of that strain.

Located on the 7th floor of the Hall Building, the Pantry was launched in February 2023. Within one month, most of our goods were gone, demonstrating that the need is very real and greater than we anticipated.

What your support can do

Moving forward our goals are to keep our shelves stocked over the course of the year, replacing unopened canned goods, jarred goods, dried pastas, rice, grains, baking goods on an ongoing basis. We are also in the process of buying a fridge and hope to offer select perishables such as fresh produce and dairy in the near future.

Some students feel embarrassment or shame when accessing charitable food supports. We plan to fight the stigma associated with food insecurity by making the space as inviting as possible, and through marketing and outreach initiatives.
