2024 Campus Sustainability Month jam-packed with events

Campus Sustainability Month, planned by Concordia University’s Office of Sustainability, will feature an event almost every day of October, revolving around sustainability and carbon-efficiency.

“I really hope it sticks in people’s minds after the buzz of campus Sustainability Month is over, and then they keep going and get involved in whatever capacity they can,” said  Christian Favreau, who coordinated the month. “Many of the things we have at Concordia are students having ideas and then [the ideas] becoming institutionalized. Some of the work we do at the office is trying to create pathways between sustainability actors so that these things can be upscaled, done sustainably, and receive the kind of resources that they deserve.”

EXTRAS

Scrutinize: In her latest piece for Drilled News, Amy Westerwelt discusses an uncomfortable trend we're seeing amidst the increasing catastrophic climate events. She notes that though many assume that as more people have direct experience with extreme weather events they will naturally be more supportive of climate policy, the evidence shows otherwise. In fear and desperation, people may turn to isolating themselves more and more, which are the perfect conditions for conspiracy theories to thrive. The only effective antidote to this is building community.
