Attestation letter

An attestation letter is official proof of your employment and salary at Concordia.  It can be required for many different reasons. The most common requests are for immigration and banking purposes. 

An attestation letter can be issued to former or current employees and includes position title, department name, date of hire, and certain terms of employment such as hours and salary. It does not mention the quality of work nor the tasks performed.

Work certificate

A work certificate is provided to terminated employees of Concordia as proof of their employment. A work certificate includes position title(s), department(s) name, the dates on which employment began and terminated, and the name and address of the employer. It does not mention the quality of work nor the tasks performed. 

Reference 

A current or former employee who requires a reference for the nature and quality of their work should communicate their request to the referee (often a supervisor or colleague) from whom they would like a reference before providing the referee’s contact information.

Please complete this form to authorize Concordia University to release all facts related to your employment, including but not limited to, the nature and duration of your employment, the quality of your work as well as your conduct during the employment, to any designated person. 

Requesting a letter or a certificate 

If you are a current employee requiring an attestation letter from Concordia University, follow the instructions on Carrefour (login required).

If you are a former employee of Concordia University, please send the employment verification letter request form by email to hr-employeeservices@concordia.ca.

In order to protect your personal information, we do not share any information on employment status with anyone but the staff or faculty making the request. Staff and faculty can provide this information to the third party. Should a third party wish to verify the authenticity of a letter issued by our offices, they can contact the person who has signed your letter.
