Introduction and event description
The Centre de santé et de services sociaux (CSSS) Cavendish is one of six CSSS in Québec with the status of Centre affilié universitaire (CAU ) in the field of social research. More specifically, the university mission of the CSSS Cavendish is in the field of social gerontology. It is the Centre for Research and Expertise in Social Gerontology (CREGÉS) that carries out the mission.
Health and social service delivery is influenced by government policies, research and professional practice. In particular, policies that impact the delivery of care to seniors are of great importance in understanding the influences on the organisation of services for seniors in our province.
The CREGÉS encourages practitioners to question their practice on an ongoing basis and to improve them by developing new responses to the changing and evolving needs of seniors. There are five areas of specialization that we call leading-practices.
A leading-practice in social gerontology is an innovative interdisciplinary service that, in collaboration with a research team or a researcher, develops and improves professional practices to respond to the specific needs of seniors. There are currently five areas of specialization:
