Alan Shepard to address Montreal Summit on Innovation

Concordia President Alan Shepard will deliver the welcoming remarks at the fifth edition of the Montreal Summit on Innovation at Palais des congrès de Montréal on November 30.

As a member of the Quartier de l’innovation and Montreal host of the UN-supported Future Earth research platform, Concordia played a leading role in developing the summit program. Called Climate (of) Change: Cities, People and Prosperity, it will bring together experts who will address ways to mitigate and adapt to climate change and open new pathways to well-being and prosperity.

Paul Shrivastava, professor in Concordia’s Department of Management and the David O’Brien Distinguished Professor of Sustainable Enterprise, is executive director of Future Earth. He will deliver a talk called Call to action: Business solutions for a climate change economy.

Damon Matthews, an associate professor in the university’s Department of Geography, Planning and Environment and Concordia University Research Chair (Climate Science and Sustainability), will discuss the history of climate change.

The summit will conclude with a talk by David Suzuki, well-known environmental advocate and co-founder of the David Suzuki Foundation.

The event is co-organized by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and will provide networking opportunities for members of Montreal’s business community.
