The Honorary Degree and Convocation Committee (HDCC), a joint Board/Senate committee, is seeking nominations for candidates for honorary degrees for consideration at its next meeting. All nominations for honorary degrees are screened by the HDCC and approved by the Board of Governors upon recommendation of Senate.

Once approved by the Board, nominations are kept confidential to protect the privacy of all those involved and to avoid disappointment if nominees are not selected. Nominators must also respect this policy, which means that nominators must keep the nomination confidential from their nominee.

To be eligible, a nominee must have sufficient stature and recognition to ensure that the awarding of an honorary degree brings credit to Concordia University and to the academic community as a whole and upholds the values that lead to the advancement of learning and to the pursuit of greater knowledge. For more detailed information regarding the selection criteria, eligibility and exclusions as well as the process, please refer to the Guidelines for the Awarding of Honorary Degrees (BD-15).

Anyone wishing to submit a nomination may do so by completing the nomination form and forwarding it to Danielle Tessier, HDCC Secretary, preferably via email attachment (danielle.tessier@concordia.ca), or via regular mail (Room GM 620-11, SGW Campus).

While nominations are welcome throughout the year, please note that nominations must be received no later than March 2, 2020 to allow their consideration by HDCC at its next meeting.
