Finding a job can be a challenge in itself, but the barriers increase for students with disabilities.

Fear not, there’s tailored help available!

On Thursday, March 10, at the Career Development Day for Students with Disabilities in the Henry F. Hall Building, you’ll explore career options, learn about employment programs and find out how to disclose a disability to an employer and what you can expect in return.

You’ll also hear testimonials from panellists who will share their insights into achieving career success.

Panellists include Julia Stein, HR Specialist in Recruitment at AIM Croit; Patricia Melville, senior consultant in talent acquisition for Bell; Philippe Thompson, director general of HR programs at Canada Border Services Agency; Maria Kallas, recruitment consultant for Shaw Media; Lateesha, diversity recruiter for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service; Luc Dagenais, associate archivist at BMO; Nicholas Greschner, HR Director, Canada, at Accenture; and Dominic McIntyre, HR advisor for the Public Service Commission of Canada.

“This is truly a unique opportunity for the university to collaborate with employers who are interested in improving the diversity of their workforce and for showcasing many of our talented students,” says Gordon Dionne, manager of Concordia’s Access Centre for Students with Disabilities (ACSD), one of the event’s co-organizers.

“We’re really proud to be able to provide these services on campus,” he says. “I hope many of our students take advantage of this event to better prepare themselves for the workforce after graduation.”

The event begins at 11 a.m. with a career panel, followed by a career fair. Registration is done on the MyConcordia portal: click on Student Services, then on Counselling and Development. Detailed registration instructions are available here. Seating is limited, so please cancel your registration if you decide not to attend.

The event is hosted by ACSD, Career and Planning Services (CAPS) and Advancement and Alumni Relations.

Register today for Career Development Day for Students with Disabilities on Thursday, March 10, starting at 11 a.m. in Room H-765, Henry F. Hall Building
(1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd. W.), Sir George Williams Campus.
