2. MR. DARCY, PETER RABBIT & MISS MARPLE WALK INTO A LIBRARY

Get to know three of literature’s leading ladies through an exploration of their life and work.

Become intimately acquainted with Jane Austen, the woman who made you fall in love with Mr. Darcy; Beatrix Potter, illustrator extraordinaire and creator of Peter Rabbit; and the master of intrigue herself, Agatha Christie, the world’s most successful novelist.

FYI, the event will be held en français

3. TOTALLY RANDOM AND POTENTIALLY AWESOME

Cinémagika : les origines en images et musique | Conseil des Arts de Montréal en Tournée | Bibliothèque de Saint-Léonard | November 25 at 7 p.m.

Want to inject a little randomness into your mid-week? Well, we have the event for you!

Mark your hump day with a stop at Montreal’s Saint-Leonard library, where you’ll be privy to a medley of comedic silent short films — complete with live musical accompaniment. Afterwards, meander through an exhibition of antique film projectors. Because, why not?

This ode to a bygone era will be touring the city throughout November and December as part of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal en Tournée program, and November 25 is your chance to check it out for free.

4. I LIKE TO MOVE IT, MOVE IT

Hors-Je | Salle de diffusion de Parc-Extension | Conseil des Arts de Montréal en Tournée | November 21 at 4 p.m.

We’ve all been there, five coffees deep and staring aimlessly at the blinking cursor of doom.

As it turns out writer’s block is not reserved for scribes. Dancers too suffer from brain congestion. That clog of creative juices is at the heart of Montreal choreographer Dominique Porte’s new solo.

The show was made in collaboration with 30 professional dancers and neophytes, who were given a dance phrase and asked to interpret it. Film clips of their movements are sequenced alongside Porte’s own live interpretation.

Sounds interesting? Find out more.
