Living in 2013

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers services and support to help you cope with the demands of everyday life.

On any day of the year, we all face a variety of hurdles. Yet it’s those regular, seemingly mundane, day-to-day challenges — like a disagreement with a colleague, a looming deadline, an argument with a partner or caring for an aging parent or young child — that add up and can become extremely stressful. Juggling these life situations can take a significant toll on a person’s physical and mental well-being.

Life isn’t always simple, but getting support is. Let Concordia’s EAP help you handle daily life so you can keep going and be well.

You’re eligible

Nothing you’re experiencing is too big or small. If you’re eligible for Health Benefits at Concordia, EAP services in English and French are available to you at no cost. In fact, your immediate family can also access the services at no cost to you or them.

It’s private

EAP services are strictly confidential. They’re delivered by an external provider, Shepell-fgi. Your name or anything that might identify you or your family is never disclosed to anyone at Concordia.

Beyond traditional counselling

The EAP offers telephone and in-person, short-term counselling services, together with a range of other services, including:

  • E-Counselling: No need for an appointment, go online and chat with a professional counsellor whenever and wherever you feel most comfortable.
  • Web resources: Quick, current, reliable and convenient. Check out Workhealthlife.com, the website run by the EAP service provider, Shepell-fgi, for tips and solutions to cope with everyday concerns like workplace well-being, relationships, parenting, eldercare, financial issues and more.
  • In-person counselling: Feel like talking, but don’t want to make a long-term commitment to a counsellor? No problem. Short-term, in-person counselling is always available to you.
  • Monthly lunchtime seminars: Broaden your perspective by attending a seminar on topics such as body image, enhancing couple relationships and financial planning. Sign up here.
  • Newsletters: EAP News is published twice a year. Keep an eye out for the next edition on workplace communication, scheduled for release this fall.
Quitters DO win

The EAP also offers programs such as the “I Quit” Smoking Cessation Program and the Concordia Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program. These provide the support, counselling and care you need to manage addictive tendencies and get back to the healthy and productive life you want.

Ready when you are

See someone in person, have a telephone conversation or vist us online; EAP services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, from wherever you are in the world.
