Out of Quebec’s six largest universities, Concordia is the leader in energy efficiency for 2011-12. At a rate of 1.03 GJ/m2, it consumed 22 per cent less than the second- and third-placing institutions, which both used 1.32 GJ/m2.

The findings, compiled by Le ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche, de la Science et de la Technologie, make Concordia number one in energy efficiency for the sixteenth consecutive year.

In the “energy cost per square metre” category, the university regained its first-place ranking in 2011-12 after placing second the previous year. Over the last decade, it has topped this classification nine times.
