Concordia’s new Food Services contract will be awarded in May 2015. In anticipation of this, a Food Advisory Working Group has been established to recommend criteria that will be integrated into the next agreement.

The group — which is meeting regularly from June to December of this year — comprises representatives from a variety of key areas at the university, including, but not limited to, the Dean of Students Office, Residence Life, Hospitality Concordia, the Concordia Student Union and the Concordia Food Coalition. It is mandated to evaluate the needs and services offered to the Concordia community, as well as to assess alternative options.

The working group will ultimately make its recommendations to Roger Côté, vice-president of Services, for inclusion in the food services public tender document to be issued in early 2014.

“Discussion and feedback from our students, faculty and staff are a crucial part of ensuring the university’s food services agreement meets the wide array of needs of the Concordia community,” says Côté. Several initiatives have already been planned to gather feedback, including:

•    A university-wide survey will be conducted in fall 2013 regarding food services at Concordia;

•    Open discussion sessions will be held at both the Sir George Williams and Loyola campuses in September 2013.

In addition, individuals are always welcome to share their thoughts by writing to Food.Services@concordia.ca.
