A message from the president

Dear members of the Concordia community,

The search for the selection of the university’s next provost and vice-president, academic affairs, has begun and I invite you to be part of the process. The provost, who is the university’s chief academic officer and my principal advisor on academic affairs, will lead the next phase of the enhancement and implementation of our Academic Plan.

If you would like to provide input on this critical appointment, please follow this link to a brief form available at Laverne Smith & Associates Inc., a leading Canadian executive search firm that has worked extensively with the education sector. The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2012.

The search committee members, who represent various constituents of our community, are:

•    Liselyn Adams
•    Shimon Amir
•    Graham Carr
•    David Douglas
•    Nabil Esmail
•    Suresh Goyal
•    Vince Graziano
•    Simon-Pierre Lauzon
•    Lucie Lequin
•    Me Marie-José Nadeau
•    Dan Parillo
•    Daria Saryan
•    Peter Stoett

I thank the committee members for taking on this important task. Their work in the coming weeks will include the drafting of a profile for the position. We will seek further input from our community at that stage to refine the profile.

Lisa Ostiguy has been interim provost since September 1, 2012, and I am grateful for her ongoing valued efforts and commitment to Concordia during this transitional period.

Alan Shepard
President
