First day of classes moved to September 5

Classes cancelled but Concordia open on Sept. 4, Quebec election day
September 4, 2012
|

Tuesday, September 4, 2012, is election day in Quebec. Please note that Concordia has modified its regular operations for that day, as indicated below.

Information for students
As a result of the application of Quebec election legislation, students must be given the day off. To this end, Concordia has cancelled all classes and other academic activities on September 4, 2012. Therefore, the first day of classes for the fall term will be Wednesday, September 5, 2012.

Information for employees
As a result of the application of Quebec election legislation, Concordia employees must be provided with four clear hours to vote. For employees whose work schedules do not allow for four clear hours to vote, the university must grant the additional time off that may be necessary.

In practice, this means that employees whose regular work schedules are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. must be permitted to leave work at 4 p.m. Please note that polls are open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
