Evaluation process under way for performance of provost and vice-president, academic affairs

Committee seeks comments, encourages Concordians to participate in process. Comments due May 16

In accordance with Board of Governors Policy BD-8, which governs the evaluation process of senior academic administrators who have agreed to seek a second term, a committee has been established to evaluate the performance of David Graham during his first term as provost and vice-president, academic affairs.

The Concordia community is invited to make brief written submissions to the committee, based on developed evaluation criteria. Participation in this process is encouraged and appreciated.

All comments must be signed or come from an identifiable email address, and will be treated in the strictest confidence. Only the secretary of the committee will be privy to the identity of the person submitting the comment.

While the committee may wish to discuss the content of the submissions with Provost Graham, the submissions will not be communicated to him or to anyone beyond the committee and the external evaluator.

Please submit comments on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, by 5 p.m., to the committee secretary, Danielle Tessier, at danielle.tessier@concordia.ca.

Evaluation Criteria for the Provost and Vice-President, Academic Affairs
When providing submissions, please use these criteria as a guide:

1.   Provide effective academic vision and leadership
2.   Build strong academic team
      •  Recruitment, review, retention
      •  Oversight of negotiations with Faculty unions
3.   Support effective development of each of the Faculties, the School Extended of Learning and the Libraries
4.   Lead academic planning process
      •  Academic Plan
      •  Strategic Framework
      •  Dashboard indicators
5.   Ensure effective and strategic management of student enrolment and retention
6.   Represent university’s interests with relevant external bodies
7.   Assume leadership role in integrating online learning
8.   Assume leadership role in integrating the School of Extended Learning
