Concordia students, instructors, research associates and faculty are encouraged to submit proposals to take part in an upcoming scientific congress organized by Acfas (Association francophone pour le savoir).

The event, which celebrates its 80th anniversary next spring, is the sole forum in the Americas to promote research from the French-speaking world. While most presentations are in French, some are also delivered in English.

Tuesday, November 1 is the deadline to submit research abstracts, while Tuesday, November 29 is the deadline to propose poster sessions.

“Each year, Concordia students, faculty and researchers from all disciplines share their knowledge with peers and the general public through the Acfas congress,” says Louise Dandurand, Concordia Vice-President, Research and Graduate Studies. “We encourage our community to pursue that tradition to support Acfas’ 80th meeting of minds.”

The organization receives hundreds of research papers on topics ranging from genomics to cancer and depression to teen suicide. Ultimately, 200 presentations are selected for the Acfas congress.

Although the Acfas congress has traditionally roved between Quebec university campuses, its next event will be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal from May 7 to 11, 2012.
