Henry Greenspan, a senior lecturer with the Residential College at the University of Michigan has been granted a Fulbright Visiting Research Chair Award to Concordia University. As the Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in North American Society and Culture at Concordia, Greenspan will assess the success of the project Life Stories of Montrealers Displaced by War, Genocide, and Other Human Rights Violations in actualizing its collaborative ethos in practice — and the implications of the lessons learned. Concordia’s Community University Research Alliance (CURA) compiled the project.

“It is with a great deal of pleasure that I welcome Dr. Henry Greenspan to the distinguished group of Canada-U.S. Fulbright Scholars,” says Michael Hawes, executive director of Fulbright Canada. “Dr. Greenspan’s research is important and timely, and will have implications for the study and collection of genocide testimonials that will stretch across our shared border.”

Greenspan holds a PhD in Sociology from Brandeis University, an EdM in Psychology and a BA in American History from Harvard University. He is a licensed clinical social worker and psychologist, as well as a playwright, and he is the author of several books, book chapters, and journal articles on genocide survivors and their testimonies. He has presented at numerous conferences around the world as a contributor and keynote speaker on the topic of genocide survival and the importance of oral histories, and his holocaust-themed play REMNANTS has appeared on over 200 stages across North America, Europe and Israel.
