Meeting to discuss external governance report
An open meeting on June 28 will provide the Concordia community with an opportunity to discuss the report by the External Governance Review Committee. The report, which includes 38 recommendations, was released at a joint meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors and the Senate Steering Committee on June 15.
The open meeting will take place:
When: Tuesday, June 28, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: J.A. DeSève Cinema, J.W. McConnell Building (1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.)
There will be a live webcast for those unable to attend.
“The committee’s report includes a number of observations about the university’s governance practices and its institutional culture challenges,” says Concordia President Frederick Lowy. “We will take the time, as a community, to review and consider the committee’s report. As an initial step, we will hold a public meeting on June 28 and gather further feedback on the committee’s advice. Later, the appropriate bodies of the university will make decisions as to the changes we will adopt that will help us improve our governance culture and facilitate the pursuit of success.”
Professor Stéphane Brutus, chair of the Department of Management in the John Molson School of Business, has agreed to moderate the discussion.
“I am greatly encouraged by our progress over these past months in bringing Concordians together around these important issues, ensuring that our university continues to support the aspirations of our students, faculty, governors, alumni, staff and community,” says Lowy.
