As a student, finding a job can be a challenge. But there’s help available. A number of Concordia groups offer listings and assistance to current students and recent alumni.

Off-Campus Housing and Job Bank (HOJO)
HOJO is the Off-Campus Housing and Job Bank run by the Concordia Student Union (CSU). Created by and for students, this online resource allows employers to post jobs for free. Jobs are divided into two categories: paid and unpaid. The latter includes both volunteer opportunities and internships.

HOJO also offers information on minimum wage legislation and workers’ rights as well as job search assistance.

Career and Placement Services
Career and Placement Services (CAPS) is a unit of Counselling and Development. It provides assistance and advice regarding job searches and information on the job market, and it facilitates access to summer, part-time, internship and entry-level positions. This is an ideal service to find jobs related to a particular field of study.

CAPS also hosts workshops throughout the semester and provides a Career Resource Centre, a computer lab for job-related searches, as well as career counselling and planning.

Career Management Services
Students and recent graduates from the John Molson School of Business (JMSB) can also avail themselves of JMSB’s Career Management Services (CMS). CMS provides advice, career planning tools, a job posting site and it hosts career events for candidates to meet prospective employers.

Work-Study Program
The Financial Aid and Awards Office runs the Work-Study Program, where students who are in financial need can get on-campus jobs while still pursuing their studies. Summer jobs are normally posted in mid-April. Interested students must first apply for a Work-Study authorization, which is available through the MyConcordia Portal (look under Financial --> Financial Aid and Awards. Then select Web Applications).
