Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • The National Post and Ottawa Citizen reprise a piece from The Conversation Canada, written by André Gagné, associate professor in the Department of Theological Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science, and Marc-André Argentino, PhD candidate in the same department. Gagné and Argentino look at the methods used by the Islamic State to build loyalty even as it suffers a series of setbacks in its ground battles to secure a caliphate.
  • Craig Townsend, associate professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is quoted in an article in the Montreal Gazette (reprised by 24 365 News) about newly-elected Montreal mayor Valérie Plante's promised "pink line" for the Métro system.
  • Daniel Salée, political science professor in the Faculty of Arts and Science, talks to The Canadian Press about Plante's mayoral victory over Denis Coderre and what it means for modern politics in Montreal. The piece is picked up by CTV News Montreal and Sudbury.com.

  • Diario Libre (in Spanish) announces that Catherine Vanderplats de Vallejo, professor emerita in the Department of Classics, Modern Languages and Linguistics in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is a guest speaker at the annual Congress of the International Association of Hispanic Women's Literature and Culture, in Santo Domingo, on now through Saturday.
